The River House

Sitting low in the landscape and oriented to make the most of its water views, this home is designed around a tight, honest material palette executed to a high standard.

Pre-cast concrete tilt-up panels are the architectural backbone — used inside and out, they give the home its distinct character. Burnished concrete floors carry that language through the interior, with carpet to bedrooms and tiles in bathrooms. Walls are finished in plaster throughout.

Spotted Gum provides the natural foil to all that concrete. Outside, it appears as shiplap cladding and vertical screening battens. Inside, it features on the kitchen ceiling and forms the shiplap pivot entry door — a material that reads as both deliberate and cohesive across the entire home.

Mosaic tiles feature in the majority of wet areas, with select pieces sourced from Japan. External decks and paving are exposed aggregate concrete, tying the outdoor spaces back to the broader material story.
